**About**

# I read the science because I used to bethe last person between it and a patient.

Melissa Mena-Schneller. Science Narrator, and the person who does the reading.

First

My faith and my science do the same work, and that work is healing.

Any good work that comes through me is not mine. It is God's, and I do everything I can to keep it that way.

I am a biochemist, and I am the great-granddaughter of a Honduran curandera. One taught me what the evidence says. The other taught me that a person who does not understand their own treatment cannot really consent to it.

Where the standard comes from

## I stopped batches from being released.

97,000,000

Units released in those four years

4 yrs

Parenteral manufacturing quality

10 yrs

Reading pharma data for a living

M.S.

Chemistry and chemical biology, Purdue

One unit is one pen or one vial, and each one went to a person. I wrote the deviation investigations and the corrective and preventive actions. I ran the tests. I validated the methods. And when the data called for it, I stopped batches from being released. That is the standard your literature gets read to.

I write and teach in English and in Spanish, and I am the author of *Your Daily Bread*. I have spent years explaining science to people who have none, and correcting myself in front of them when I got it wrong. That is how I know what a real person hears when a label says "supports healthy function." They hear very little.

The year that changed the job

After a decade in biotech, I spent a year with your customers.

I sat in the doctor's visits. I answered people online who were trying to understand a chronic illness nobody had solved for them. I stood at medicine cabinets, going through the supplements one at a time. I read lab reports line by line with the person they belong to.

Those rooms are where I learned what your customer cares about, and what they can understand. Their questions are not a guess to me. They are the questions I have already been asked.

Now I am offering that back to you, so we can steward the work that is healing together.

Why both halves matter

I am the bridge and the gate.

The bridge is the translation.

Science on one side, a person on the other, and someone who can carry meaning across without dropping any of it.

The gate is the refusal.

I know what it costs to say no, and what it costs to say yes to something I had not read carefully enough.

The value is that it is one person.

A translator who cannot say no is a copywriter. A gate that cannot translate is a bottleneck. A model can write the first draft. The gate is still a person.

If your team works with AI, I can help you hold it to the same ethical standard I hold myself to. You are not hiring someone to make your science sound good.

The trust gap

Two surveys, and the distance between them.

77%

of Americans had at least a fair amount of confidence in scientists to act in the public's interest.

Pew Research Center, published 15 January 2026, fielded 20 to 26 October 2025, n = 5,111 US adults

28%

viewed the pharmaceutical industry positively, ranking it 24th of 25 industries.

Gallup, published 25 September 2025, fielded 1 to 20 August 2025, n = 1,094 US adults

Different surveys, different questions, different samples. The distance between them is what every regulated brand is trying to cross.
